Whether you are feeling stuck or thriving, therapy can be an opportunity to become more aligned with yourself and your values. Many of us carry wounded parts that are shaped by discomfort within ourselves and in our relationships. Therapy can be a space to gently work through both mind and body wounds, while honoring your unique healing process.

My approach to therapy is grounded in compassion, honesty, and respect for the deeply personal journey of healing and recovery. I draw from a trauma informed lens, and from both professional expertise and personal experiences.

I utilize evidenced based practices, including EMDR, humanistic therapy, psychodynamic theories, somatic based practices, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Relational Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. As a trauma therapist, I prioritize creating safety, building trust, collaborating with care, supporting individuals in developing autonomy, agency, and a deeper sense of self-connection. Through self-connection, adaptation and change become possible.

Serena Sherrill, LICSW, Seattle based therapist

Background & Experience

I was born and raised in New England and began my path in social work during my undergraduate studies in Nashville. I later moved to New York City, where I earned my graduate degree in clinical social work, and spent several years in Boston working across a range of mental health settings, while completing my clinical training and full licensure.

In 2019, I moved to Seattle with the intention of exploring a new part of the country while continuing to grow in my work as a therapist. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in both Massachusetts and Washington.

My career has followed a diverse and meaningful path, including work in community-based organizations, hospital settings, substance use treatment programs, and group private practice. These experiences have shaped a holistic, trauma-informed approach to care that honors the complexity of each person’s story.

Outside of my clinical work, I feel most calm and whole near the water. Being on or near the water has deeply shaped my understanding of presence, regulation, and resilience, values that I carry into my work with clients.
